Paste in Maramures 1
Last weekend (Orthodox Easter weekend), we, that means, me, Marius, Marie, Lado, Linden, Erjola & Dan went to the Northern region of Maramures for a trip all together:) Friday after work we had a real Easter clean-up of our office, then we went home for a quick prepare and around 4 p.m. Marius & the crew picked me and Marie up from our home, with the minibus they had rented. Dan was going to drive us up to Maramures (which was a bit of an adventure, too, because of the change of the driver's position). During the travel we had lots of "petrecere", joking, playing games, etc. We passed Satu Mare (by some people denominated the ugliest Romanian town), had a few short stops for buying drinks and getting our tired legs fit again (Ocrotiti regele guraului! - the deer conservation sign on the way). Around 9 p.m. we arrived at our guest house in Vadu Izei, after around 6 hours of travel in a minibus which by Western Standards would have never been allowed to go on the road:) Our guesthouse was a beautiful traditional Maramures house with coloured plates as decoration on the walls and the interior made all out of wood!In the garden, there were the typical coloured pots & pans hung on a trunk (to dry, but also to indicate that there is a girl searching for a husband in the house hehehe) We had a big dinner with three courses and - of course - palinca!!!Por fin!!! We even went out to the (nearly) only bar in the village for a nice drink, and when Linden, Lado and me wanted to go back, we nearly got lost (such a thing can only happen to us, clearly). Finally, we made the way into our beds...To have a healthy sleep in the clean air of the countryside and to awaken the next morning ready for a new day... about:adventure4-5-2008 @ 19:27 UTC
