Romanian taxi drivers...

Its incredible what funny stories one can tell here about the taxis...Of course, it often happens that the drivers simply dont know where you want to go and then they ask you the way - but how the hell should I know??? But its not only that...here are some funny anecdotes which I experienced myself! I have to say that lots of them are really nice and interested when I tell them that I am Austrian! I gave English lessons to one driver, he said the words in Romanian and I translated them into English, another one wanted to speak Italian with me, as he was a medicine student going for a practical semester to Italy, the third one had spent some time working in Germany and found it a great opportunity to practice his German with me...He was really sad when the drive was over, poor guy...Most of the drivers have just horrible Romanian folk or rap music, on full volume, it only happened once to me that the guy behind the steering wheel was so kind to ask me if the music disturbed me, and even then I said no. Lets wait what adventures are still waiting in taxis ggg

Cea mai fina placere and Oradea all new...

Hi people,

I feel that I want to write a bit about Romanian culture...The food portions here have not become smaller, shop assistants in food shops use to give you candies or chewing gums instead of small cash, people still wonder why it could be useful to learn Romanian and toilets usually dont have keys, very annoying especially for women. On 23 of April there was not only the International Book and Authors Rights Day, but also an important event for Oradea took place, they introduced the first new tram here in our city!!! And guess which one it is...pure Austrian Fabrication, reminds me of Vienna...Somehow this new tram doesnt fit into the city and it destroys in a way the atmosphere of the nostalgic old German construction trams...But anyway its good for Oradea, I think. Another Austrian point they have MILKA here, I saw a MILKA car and publicity on TV and in the street tja MILKA cea mai fina placere, oriunde ai merge...Although I have to admit that I prefer POIANA csoki. It seems to me that all Oradea is waking up and being polished, what can that be??? Right ELECTIONS on first of June!!! They built gleamy new tram stops with panouri e.g panels, they dug up the green spaces to renovate them, on historically and culturally important buildings they put a signs, and so I learn about places and palaces of which before I hadnt even been aware of...Its quite interesting though to see how a city changes because they are electing a new major. Anyhow I  better keep my nose out of politics!!! More useful to concentrate on... languages!!!

Micul Print and more

A bit more about Romanian culture... In my language lessons, were having lots of fun and I learn a lot. My teacher and me we read Micul Print together I love this book! Romanian culture in general is among many other things that platou de antreuri, a antipasti dish, is like a whole meal for 2, it is also that they use to give you small things (candies, chewing gums, chocolate) if they dont have bani marunti, eg small change in a shop. Everywhere around is Paste, Orthodox Easter, now. Next week they will celebrate it and tomorrow we will go to the church for the before Easter festivities! Yesterday I went to the market, a real bazaar of fruits, vegetables, meat stalls, bakeries, etc. it seems very nice. As soon as possible I want to buy fresh things there for cooking...
